Bio
Nikole Schiavone was born and raised at
the New York Aquarium in Coney Island. Well...not really,
but she might as well have been! Spending her summer weekends
at the Wildlife Conservation Society's various zoo's and
the Aquarium, she developed a love for all things marine,
especially marine mammals! This love led her to volunteer
at the Flushing Meadows Zoo and the Aquarium, and eventually
go to Beach Channel High School to major in marine biology
and join the swim team.
In college, she was overjoyed to learn that SCUBA was a
three credit elective! After her first class, she was hooked,
and worked her schedule around SCUBA classes until she graduated.
She went on to major in animal behavior and conservation
in graduate school, with a concentration in marine mammal
behavior.
Her passion for diving has manifested itself in her determination
to take yearly trips with her dive buddy, and further her
education in all things dive-related. Her ultimate goal
is to introduce YOU to her world, and encourage conservation
of that magical "big blue".
